Breaking Bread

Breaking Bread is the worshipping community of Princeton Presbyterians that meets weekly around the Lord's Table. We enjoy creative worship that is grounded in the Reformed tradition. It is amazing to see God's faithfulness as we sing, pray, and encounter God's word together.

Every 28 Hours Performance and Discussion

Members of Breaking Bread and the Westminster Foundation board attended the Every 28 Hours play festival at the McCarter Theatre last month. Every 28 Hours is a collection of one-minute plays that began during the Black Lives Matter Movement following Michael Brown Jr.'s death in Ferguson, Missouri. The title derives from the statistic that an African American person dies by police use of force every twenty-eight hours in the United States. We met at Nassau Presbyterian Church a week later to discuss violence, racism, and inequality in America, and what habits we can practice to work toward racial justice.

Laura Bratton on Harnessing Courage

The Rev. Laura Bratton delivered an inspiring lecture at Princeton Theological Seminary about her recently published book Harnessing Courage: Overcoming Adversity with Grit and GratitudeLaura is a PTS alumna, a Methodist pastor, a motivational speaker, and a coach for young people experiencing trauma. She teaches people how to draw upon “grit and gratitude” as part of the healing process. Princeton Presbyterians joined Laura and her guide dog, Betty, for a lively conversation after the lecture in the seminary’s Brick Café to talk about life and share cupcakes from the Bent Spoon.

Thanksgiving Feast with Breaking Bread!

The Breaking Bread worshipping community gathered at Nassau Presbyterian Church on Sunday, November 20, to share delicious food, give thanks for our many blessings, and enjoy fellowship with one another. Although we don’t have turkey and pie every week, we come from all walks of life to worship God and share in the Lord’s Supper on Sunday nights at 8pm in Niles Chapel at Nassau Presbyterian Church. Join us anytime for a joyful, warm community in the heart of Princeton, New Jersey!

Pre-Med Hospice Volunteers

Last week, Len, Andrew, and Julia had their first meeting with undergraduate students at Princeton University who visit patients and families at Ascend and Kindred hospice centers. These Princeton students are preparing for medical school, and they offer heartfelt care, kind presence, and a listening ear to persons in a tender season of life. Andrew and Len will meet with the “Pre-Med Hospice Volunteers” monthly to process and share their stories of care and visitation.
